Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade targets Q3 2026 launch, with gas limit projected to rise from ~60M to 200M
Ethereum is preparing a major base-layer upgrade called Glamsterdam, with a target launch window in Q3 2026 and an internal mainnet target of late August 2026. It would mark the first base-layer throughput overhaul since 2022’s The Merge and change how Ethereum assembles blocks. The upgrade is expected to lift the gas limit from about ~60M to 200M (+233%), raise theoretical throughput from ~20 TPS to as high as 10,000 TPS, cut gas fees by up to 78%, and widen the data propagation window to around 9 seconds.
