Fidelity seeks SEC approval to add Ethereum staking and distribute yields in its spot ETF
Fidelity has filed an application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to modify how its spot Ethereum ETF operates, seeking permission for the fund to stake on the Ethereum proof-of-stake network and distribute staking rewards directly to investors. The filing aims to give Fidelity’s Ethereum ETF a competitive edge, as other spot Ethereum ETFs currently on the market do not offer staking yields. It remains unclear when the SEC will make a decision.

SEC weighs “innovation exemption” for 24/7 trading of tokenized Apple and Nvidia shares on blockchain platforms
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is considering an “innovation exemption” that would allow tokenized versions of stocks such as Apple and Nvidia to trade around the clock on blockchain platforms without full registration, with details expected at the agency’s Friday open meeting. BlackRock and JPMorgan have already tokenized U.S. Treasuries on the XRP Ledger, while Assetiko has tokenized commodities and U.S. equities and settles deposits and withdrawals in XRP. Over the past week, tokenized gold and stocks on the XRP Ledger have posted gains of more than 10% with XRP settlement. Ripple is described as having a full tokenization stack on XRPL, spanning payments, custody, brokerage, collateral management and a privacy layer.

Fidelity adds staking to its spot Ethereum ETF, with quarterly rewards for holders
Fidelity Investments has added staking to its spot Ethereum ETF and will distribute staking rewards to holders on a quarterly basis. The move is intended to make the ETF more attractive by allowing investors to earn staking income alongside exposure to Ethereum price movements. The service runs on Ethereum’s proof-of-stake mechanism and is expected to lower the barrier for traditional investors to enter the crypto market while supporting growth in the ETF’s assets under management. Fidelity’s update follows similar steps by other ETF issuers as it continues to expand its crypto investment product lineup.
