SEC Chair Paul Atkins says proposed crypto classification rules are coming soon
SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the agency will soon publish formal proposed rules to build on its recent interpretive guidance on crypto asset classification. The guidance broadly treated most crypto assets as non-securities and grouped digital assets into five buckets, while Atkins also outlined plans for exemptions akin to a sandbox. Separately, Senator Cynthia Lummis said stablecoin-yield talks tied to the CLARITY Act were "99%" resolved after a recent Senate Republican meeting.
