GE Vernova T&D, Hitachi Energy India and CG Power slide up to 9% on July 3 after 2-year tender exemption for four Chinese firms
A Ministry of Finance memo dated June 24 granted a two-year exemption to four Chinese power transmission and distribution companies, allowing them to participate in tenders issued by state-run entities. Previously, only TBEA had received a one-year approval earlier this year, with a minimum 50% local-content condition for reactor-category bids. The policy shift is seen as intensifying competition in India’s T&D equipment market, potentially weighing on order wins and pricing power for local leaders such as GE Vernova T&D, Hitachi Energy India and CG Power. On July 3, the three stocks fell 6.8%–9%, while GE Vernova extended its losing streak to nine straight sessions for a total decline of 17%.

Tata Motors PV in focus after JLR Q1 FY27 retail sales drop 15.3% to 80,000 units
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles said Jaguar Land Rover’s Q1 FY27 retail sales fell 15.3% year on year to 80,000 units, citing temporary supply disruptions tied to Middle East conflict-related market disruption and a fire at a key component supplier. Wholesale volumes declined 9.2%, with sharper drops in China, Europe and overseas markets. The company said the impact was temporary and that it will report April–June quarter financial results in August. Tata Motors PV shares have fallen 13% over the past month and have struggled to rebound after hitting a 52-week low.

BBC probe finds Instagram ran paid ads in India promoting child sexual abuse material
A BBC investigation found Instagram served paid ads in India promoting child sexual abuse material, using keywords such as “rape video” and directing users to Telegram channels. Meta said it had disabled several adverts and suspended accounts, and later removed additional ads, disabled more accounts and blocked URLs after the BBC shared its findings. The BBC said Instagram’s systems declined to remove one ad within 24 hours, saying it did not violate the platform’s rules. The BBC said it reported the ads and Telegram channels to Indian law enforcement and to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and noted Meta was ordered to pay $375m in a similar case in the US state of New Mexico.

New South Wales expands solar battery rebates to apartments and business storage systems up to 30 MWh from Sept. 1
The New South Wales government has amended its Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) to broaden solar battery rebates from Sept. 1, extending support to apartment buildings and to small, medium, commercial and industrial users with systems up to 30 MWh. The changes allow rebates to be stacked with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries program for eligible categories, including apartments up to 100 kWh. The policy aims to speed up behind-the-meter storage deployment and reduce reliance on coal-fired power. The expansion is expected to benefit energy retailers, integrated energy service providers and storage system integrators operating in Australia.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Dogecoin jump after June payrolls rise 57,000, cooling Fed hike expectations
U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose by just 57,000 in June, well below the 110,000 forecast, while the jobless rate edged down to 4.2%. Markets responded by cutting the probability that the Federal Reserve will keep rates unchanged in September to 45%. Major U.S. stock indexes rose, with the Dow finishing at a record 52,900.07, the S&P 500 slightly higher and the Nasdaq modestly lower. The data shift directly reset rate expectations and served as a near-term trading catalyst for equity benchmarks.
