Sui Mainnet Back Online After Two Disruptions Traced to the Same Bug

ChainCatcher reports that Sui said its mainnet has returned to normal operations, with transaction processing and network activity fully restored. The network attributed both today's incident and yesterday's downtime to a software bug tied to an interaction between the "Address Balances" feature and gas-fee logic introduced in version 1.72. Sui's core team said yesterday's remedy was a temporary fix aimed at rapidly bringing the network back online, but it carried a known—though low-probability—risk of additional interruptions. A variation of that known issue was triggered today, causing the mainnet to pause again. Validators have now rolled out a long-term fix. Sui said the underlying vulnerability has been fully addressed and the network is operating normally. The team plans to publish a detailed postmortem covering the root cause and the remediation process.
