NYSE Exchanges Lift Position Caps on Options for 11 Crypto ETFs

NYSE Arca and NYSE American, two New York Stock Exchange units, have eliminated the 25,000-contract position limit on options tied to 11 cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds, Cointelegraph reported. The change takes effect immediately after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission granted a 30-day waiver. The products covered include BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB), and Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs offered by Bitwise and Grayscale. The position limits were introduced in November 2024 when crypto ETF options began trading, aimed at curbing market manipulation and excessive volatility. With the caps removed, these contracts will be regulated in line with other commodity ETF options, a shift expected to give institutional investors more trading flexibility and potentially support market liquidity.
