Anza VP Proposes 10x Reduction in Solana Account Rent at Breakpoint Conference

On December 12, BlockBeats reported that Brennan Watt, VP of Core Engineering at Anza, a Solana research and development firm, announced at the Solana Breakpoint conference a significant proposal, SIMD-0389. This initiative aims to reduce Solana account creation rent by tenfold, with a potential for a hundredfold reduction. The proposed change, also discussed at the recent SolanaConf, is designed to enhance network scalability and adoption by reclaiming hundreds of millions of dormant SOL, while simultaneously ensuring the network's security and stability, according to Anza's analysis of its secure state management strategy. Account Rent is a crucial storage fee mechanism within the Solana network, ensuring maintenance for on-chain data.
