CPI Data and Fed Policy Signals Put Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana in Focus
Bitcoin falling below $80,000 has eroded some of the optimism that followed the Senate Banking Committee's CLARITY Act markup on Thursday. May 12 CPI data showed headline inflation at 3.8% YoY and core CPI at 2.8%, which analysts argue could weigh on risk sentiment across BTC, Ethereum, and Solana. The Fed's benchmark rate remains 3.5% to 3.75% after three straight meetings, with markets pricing about a 30% chance of a hike by year-end.

Yakovenko says Solana's Alpenglow test-cluster launch validates its core design
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said the Alpenglow consensus upgrade going live on a community test cluster supports the view that Solana's base architecture is working as intended. The overhaul replaces Proof of History and TowerBFT with Votor and Rotor, aiming to cut finality from roughly 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds and to make delay-based MEV strategies more costly for validators. The upgrade is described as targeting mainnet as soon as Q2 2026 after previously clearing the validator set with more than 98% support in September 2025.
