UBS, Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered all reported better-than-expected results for the second quarter. UBS posted $3.6 billion in pretax profit, logged $36 billion of net new assets in global wealth management and reported a 31% year-on-year rise in investment banking revenue. Deutsche Bank reported profit after tax of 1.9 billion euros ($2.2 billion), a record for the period, while Standard Chartered said first-half pretax profit rose 9% to $4.8 billion. Together, the results highlight resilient profitability across major traditional banks and continued client inflows.
