WEMIX Says Smart-Contract Exploit Led to Unauthorized Minting of 5.2255M Tokens
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
WEMIX disclosed a smart contract exploit that enabled unauthorized minting of 5.2255 million tokens via malicious contract deployment and repeated flash-loan/swap loops after control of two contracts was illicitly obtained. While WEMIX says internal systems and admin keys were not compromised, the incident underscores persistent onchain contract risk and can weigh on risk appetite toward smaller-cap tokens and DeFi-integrated projects, with limited spillover to majors.

WEMIX has published its incident review and updated mitigation measures following a recent security event. The company said that on July 26, ownership of two smart contracts—DIOS and AMA—was transferred to an unauthorized third party. According to WEMIX, the attacker used a single transaction to deploy a malicious contract, seize control of both contracts, and run nine rounds of flash-loan and swap operations, culminating in the unauthorized minting of 5.2255 million WEMIX tokens. WEMIX added that its internal systems were not breached and administrator private keys were not exposed, attributing the incident to vulnerabilities in publicly accessible onchain smart contracts.
