U.S. CPI up 3.4% in August; gasoline jumps 3.9% and drives monthly gain

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
August US CPI rose 0.4% m/m, with headline inflation at 3.4% y/y, driven largely by a 3.9% jump in gasoline. Core CPI accelerated to 0.3% m/m even as core y/y eased to 2.4%. The mix of firmer monthly inflation and energy-driven pressure can keep rates higher-for-longer expectations elevated, tightening financial conditions and supporting the USD while weighing on duration-sensitive risk assets.
