President Trump has directed an immediate Section 301 investigation into the European Union and warned that the United States could impose substantial tariffs in response to EU antitrust fines on major American technology companies. Saying the US is "not a piggybank for Europe," Trump pointed to more than $38.5 billion in cumulative penalties, including Apple ($15B), Google ($18B in total), Meta ($3B) and Amazon ($2.5B). He called for the fines to be fully reversed.
