ChainThink said Aug. 25 that TRM Labs data show the U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has added 30 BTC-, ETH- and TRON-based addresses linked to members of the Iranian hacking group Mabna Institute. The wallets have collectively received about $16.8 million since January 2018.
TRM Labs noted that 10 addresses controlled by Keyvan Fayaz brought in roughly $15.5 million, or about 92% of the on-chain total. Mabna Institute has carried out cyberattacks since at least 2013, acting as "hired hackers" for clients including Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The addresses cited are tied to four defendants.
