SBI Securities and Rakuten Securities to Roll Out Crypto Investment Trust Products in Japan
PANews, May 17 — SBI Securities and Rakuten Securities are preparing to offer cryptocurrency investment trust products, Nikkei Asian Review reported. Other major brokerages, including Nomura Securities, said they are likely to consider similar offerings once a formal regulatory framework is in place.
In a Nikkei survey of 18 leading brokerages, 11 said they would weigh launching crypto-related investment trust products after regulations are implemented.
SBI Securities plans to market funds created by its group company, SBI Global Asset Management. The lineup is expected to include ETFs and investment trusts linked to highly liquid cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, with product development and distribution handled within the SBI group.
Rakuten Securities is also moving ahead with product development alongside group affiliates including Rakuten Investment Management, with the goal of allowing clients to trade cryptocurrency investment trusts through its mobile app.
