FIFA plans $20 billion subsidiary to run the World Cup, seeks up to $4.2 billion from selling 20% stake
FIFA said it plans to set up a $20 billion subsidiary to run the World Cup and other events, and may sell up to 20% of the unit to outside investors to raise as much as $4.2 billion. The proceeds would fund an optional programme offering member associations up to $20 million in one-off support, rising to $24 million in the 2035–2038 cycle, for projects spanning infrastructure, coaching and women’s football. The plan does not involve direct trading of traditional financial assets or changes to regulation.
