Galaxy Research projects stablecoin transaction volume to surpass US ACH system in 2026
In its latest annual outlook, Galaxy Research forecast that dollar-pegged stablecoins could process more transaction volume in 2026 than the US Automated Clearing House system, citing current growth trends and pending regulation. The report also noted that stablecoin supply has been expanding at a 30%–40% compound annual rate and already handles volumes exceeding major card networks while approaching half of ACH activity. Galaxy's analysts further pointed to new offerings from firms such as Western Union, Sony Bank and SoFi as evidence of expanding stablecoin adoption.

Arthur Hayes calls Fed's new RMP Treasury purchases a stealth return to money printing
On Dec. 10, the Federal Reserve launched its reserve management purchases (RMP) program alongside a 25 basis point rate cut, with plans to buy about $40 billion of short-term Treasurys in the first month. Arthur Hayes argues in a recent Substack essay that RMP functions like quantitative easing, inflating fiat liquidity and strengthening the investment case for Bitcoin, gold and other scarce assets while eroding purchasing power for those without assets. Bitcoin traded near $92,695 on Dec. 10 and around $87,300 at the time of writing, as Polymarket traders priced a roughly 77% chance of no policy change at the Fed's January meeting.

Circle to buy Interop Labs team and IP in 2026 deal while Axelar Network stays community-run
Circle has agreed to acquire the Interop Labs team and its proprietary technology in a transaction expected to close in early 2026, while the Axelar Network, its foundation and the AXL token will remain independently governed. The acquisition will fold Interop Labs' interoperability stack into Circle's Arc blockchain and Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol to bolster crosschain infrastructure for multichain applications. The move follows Circle's earlier purchase of Hashnote and comes amid a broader wave of 2025 acquisitions by stablecoin issuers, including Paxos and Tether.

Bitget launches USDt-margined beta for forex, gold and stock derivatives trading
Bitget has opened a private beta that lets a group of users trade forex, gold, commodities and stock derivatives using USDt as margin and settlement. The exchange says positions are collateralized with stablecoins and remain in a restricted testing phase while it monitors performance and risk controls. As other platforms like Kraken and Bybit also add traditional assets, crypto exchanges are increasingly positioning themselves as unified venues for both digital and TradFi markets.
