EU Bans Ruble-Pegged A7A5 Stablecoin Effective November 25, 2025
The European Union will ban the ruble-backed A7A5 stablecoin beginning November 25, 2025. The measure prohibits EU-based institutions and service providers from facilitating transactions involving the digital asset. The token, reportedly co-owned by Russia's state-run Promsvyazbank and sanctioned Moldovan businessman Ilan Shor, had processed over $68 billion in transactions by September 2025, according to the European Commission.
